Lay-up Line Chain Information
Spar-Tek Industries has developed a special chain with Tip-Away lugs for inline layup lines. This is a #160 roller chain with riveted K1 attachments with a series of flights and a lug attached. These chain sections come in lengths suitable for 98, 99, 100, 101, or 102” spacing to fit all “GP” style layup lines.
Conversions are offered to replace other styles of chain and these include the keystock for the roller chain support as well as the return supports to hold the chain under the line.
The best features of this chain are the ability to index sheet drops within 1/8” of the lug and the lower friction from using a true roller chain.
The Tip-Away lug is a specially designed tab to position the first sheet on the chain and keep it in position all along the line. As the name implies, the lug tips back when it goes over the head sprocket and tilts back up at the tailshaft.
