New Platens Information
Spar-Tek Industries manufactures a wide range of platens for multiple and single opening presses, primarily for steam, hot oil, or water heating. These are made from a special grade of steel to allow for even heat distribution and uniform expansion under constant heat cycles. The platens are gun drilled across the width and the passages are connected with milled windows then sealed with welded plates. Single, double, or multiple pass plates can be constructed in this manner for different heating and flow requirements.
Platen surfaces are held to under 0.005” parallelism, and can have surface finishes from milled (125) to sanded (64) to a satin polish (12-16rms). Our vacuum bed abrasive planer creates a uniform finish across the entire surface, eliminating any machining or grinder lines.
Platens can be chrome plated for special applications and the finished surface polished to satin chrome with no lines or swirls to transfer to the product.
