Platen Rebuilds Information
Spar-Tek Industries rebuilds platens and can offer exchange platens for most plywood presses. The rebuilding process includes straightening them to correct for bowed or bent platens, welding in dents and dimples, and sanding to restore the surface finish.
Worn surfaces are machined to restore parallelism then sanded to remove the machining marks. The attachment points are repaired, chasing threads and drilling out broken bolts as necessary then the platens are pressure checked to locate leaks. Some platens with rows of plugs are sealed to eliminate multiple leaks. Platens are wrapped and coated to protect the finish, then crated for shipping.
Complete press loads of platens can be repaired or reconditioned when presses are rebuilt and we can offer exchange sets of platens to eliminate the turnaround time usually associated with this procedure. Exchange credit is offered for old platens in rebuildable condition when returned to us after a project. Check with your salesman for the details of this service.
