Equipment Repair and Upgrades
Spar Tek offers many repairs and upgrades for customers and our older equipment.
Hydraulic Cyclinder Hoist Conversion: This used to change an Overhead Drive Posidyne Hoist to a Hydraulice Cyclinder Hoist. This conversion consists of two Hydraulic Cyclinders with Index Manifolds attached to the rod end of each cyclinder. These cyclinders are mounted with the rod hanging down for the best structural advantage and to minimize the hydraulic requirments since pressurizing the rod side of the cyclinder raises the hoist. The customer's existing hoist chain will be left connected to the platform for a leveling device. This new system will require only minimal maintenance, which can be performed at floor level or from the loading platform.
Step and Guide System: A new Step and Guide System can be installed on most strain rod and window frame presses. This conversion includes angle guides with replaceable brass wear bars, new step assemblies, and corner brackets with angle guides for each moving platen.
This conversion replaces platen guides that rub on strain rods with angled guides that run on brass wear bars mounted to new step columns. The position of the platens can be adjusted by moving the angle guide bars, and the brass bars can be replaced when the press is open.
The conversion utilizes the unused room next to the strain rods to increase the size of the landing area for each corner bracket. Most landings are increased to over 1 square inch, doubling the contact area for each corner to set on.
On a strain rod press, the step and guide columns can be rotated out of the way to remove a platen from the press, then rotated back in place after it is replaced. Step sections can be replaced as easily.
The angle guide system works when the press is hot or cold since the angle matches the direction the platen shrinks when it cools. This conversion has been installed on a variety of hot press designs including both strain rod and window frame styles. The Angle Guide Conversion for solid frame presses replaces the landing blocks welded to the inside of the frame with a set of replaceable step plates. The angle guide bars are installed separately on the corners of the press frame, and can be moved in or out to center the platens in the press.
